Jawbone’s most advanced fitness-focused wearable to date looks like it’s going to keep even the most committed fitness fanatic happy with its plethora of sensors providing stacks of detailed information to the wearer both day and night. The new device, which is fitted with a standard watch battery that should give it months of battery life, is up for pre-order now on Jawbone’s website, or you can pick it up at Apple, Best Buy, Target, and Amazon stores later this month. The UP Move tracker comes in five different colors, and you can mix and match it with different-colored clips and straps, too, till you get it looking just the way you want it. If having it strapped around your wrist isn’t your style, the provided clip means you can attach it just about anywhere you like, keeping it out of sight if you prefer.
Smart Coach processes all the collected data and uses it to offer personalized suggestions on how to improve your health and lifestyle. Jawbone’s latest tracker hooks up with its new ‘Smart Coach’ insight and coaching engines. On top of that, it also tracks your shut-eye, providing data on hours slept as well as sleep quality. With a $50 price tag, the new wearable is aimed at those looking to dip their toe into the world of fitness trackers, with the “simple yet savvy” device able to track your steps, exercise, and calories burned as you go through the day. Jawbone on Tuesday night unveiled two new devices to complement its current line-up of fitness bands, with each landing at opposite ends of the scale in terms of functionality and price.Īt the lower end Jawbone has introduced the UP Move. “They don’t adapt to your goals or desires, and that’s what makes this type of technology really exciting to me. “The headphones you’re wearing, or the laptop you’re typing on, aren’t highly personalized,” he said. Of all of Jawbone’s product lines, Béhar said, it’s the fitness trackers that most excite him. That model, the chargeHR, is priced at $149.95.
Fitbit, a Jawbone competitor, recently announced a model with heart-rate tracking capabilities. Interested users can pre-order the Move now. The UP Move is made of aluminum, comes in multiple colors, uses the type of battery users would normally find in digital watches, and will be available later this month. Another difference between the UP 3 and the UP24: the new model is one-size fits all, which Béhar said presented “a major challenge.” “We had to design a new type of buckle, because we needed a clasp that wouldn’t impede with the sensors,” he said. A number of different colors and finishes will follow shortly, and VF Daily was shown examples of band styles that Béhar said would be available in the first quarter of next year. The UP3 will first be available in a “black twist” color scheme. These products have their own reason for being, and we want to give them personality, but we think they can stand on their own.” “You’ll see that we’re also not trying to hide them in a ‘faux jewelry’ type of aesthetic. “I don’t know that people want to do a lot of other stuff on their wrists,” Béhar said.

An iOS download will arrive this month, followed by an Android app that the company said “will be available later this year.” A “Smart Coach” system will also be available to assist in training and other functionality.
“The additions to the app, which is an app that we’ve seen massive adoption in, will be an evolution,” Béhar said. Jawbone will release a new app for the UP3, but existing users will find it familiar. “Eventually, we’ll be able to offer on-demand heart-rate readings, your respiration rate, and fatigue levels.” The band has a rechargeable battery that lasts for up to seven days on a single charge. “Over time, we’ll be able to tell you not just your heart rate, but your heart health-how stressed you are, and so on,” he said.

The UP3 will be able to differentiate between activities such as exercise, meditation, and sleep, and will notice repeated user behaviors and attempt to classify them without manual input.
